Who you'd be working with

You’d be embedded with Octagon Professionals International in Arnhem, Netherlands, operating alongside their existing team on live programmes. Octagon holds your contract so reporting lines, delivery goals, and day-to-day collaboration stay with the hiring organisation; employment, payroll, and compliance stay with us.

Overview:

Octagon Professionals is recruiting a Rotor Structural Design Consultant to support a leading generator manufacturer. This assignment focuses on PM Shaft Generators (PM-SG) for marine applications.

In this role, you will review the company's current rotor structural design and design verification methodology. You will evaluate whether the FEM-based analysis conditions and evaluation criteria are sound, and recommend improvements to strengthen long-term structural reliability.

Role Responsibilities:

Review technical reports and design verification results, with a focus on rotor structural design
Evaluate the validity of calculation methods, FEM-based analysis approaches, and evaluation criteria
Recommend additional verification items and validation methods
Provide technical consultation to support design improvement and structural reliability
Support root-cause analysis for structural or vibration-related issues where relevant
Provide clear technical guidance and recommendations that support engineering decision-making

Essential Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in rotor mechanical structural design and development
Strong experience in structural design, structural strength evaluation, and fatigue assessment
Able to lead technical discussions and consulting activities in English

Desirable Skills & Experience:

Experience working at, or alongside, leading global shaft generator manufacturers (e.g. ABB, The Switch, Indar)
Experience evaluating rotor structure and dynamic characteristics for large motors and generators
Experience in FEM-based design verification and structural optimization
