Octagon is partnered with a leading company in the power industry is seeking an Eco-Friendly Interrupter Expert to join its Europe R&D Center in Arnhem.
This role focuses on the development of high-voltage interrupters (145kV-420kV) using eco-efficient gases (C4-FN mixtures or natural gases) to support the transition to sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the research and development of eco-friendly gas (O₂ or CO₂) interrupters, ensuring compliance with industry standards and optimizing performance.
- Drive product innovation by exploring new materials and technologies for high-voltage interrupters.
- Analyze the properties of eco-efficient gases (C4-FN mixtures, natural gases) and their impact on interrupter design and performance.
- Define and implement design parameters, performance benchmarks, and testing methodologies for interrupters using eco-friendly gases.
- Collaborate with universities, research institutes, and internal engineering teams to integrate the latest research findings into product development.
- Establish advanced measurement techniques to collect and analyze data related to interrupter performance and ensure product reliability.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to knowledge sharing within the R&D department.
- Oversee the development and validation of interrupters ranging from 145kV to 420kV, ensuring they meet operational and regulatory requirements.
- Incorporate findings from the in-house team regarding alternatives like Vacuum Interrupters (VI) into the research.
Requirements:
- Experience in designing and developing eco-efficient gas interrupters (C4-FN mixtures or natural gases).
- Expertise in analyzing and improving breaking performance with eco-friendly gases.
- Management experience at team leader level or higher in interrupter development.
- Strong background in R&D for high-voltage interrupters (145kV-420kV).
- Professional proficiency in English.
- Willing to work on-site in Arnhem, Netherlands.
